The Joys of Being an Intern OR How I Justify a 40 Percent Cut in Pay

Despite my complete lack of stick-to-itiveness, (new favorite word,) when it comes to blogging, I want everyone to know that I'm alive, well and kicking ass. After spending all of June working in the glass plant, a golden opportunity was placed in my lap, which is where any opportunity worth a damn presents itself. I was able to land at Cambridge Municipal Court where I could learn the ins and outs of the justice system while interning in the Probation Department.

Despite dropping from $10 an hour to $6, the experience factor is what weighs the scales in favor of the desk job. Well, that and the fact that I could sleep til 7, not sweat while surrounded by molten glass and retain the majority of my eyebrows and lashes while avoiding intermittent shots of scolding hot air.

However, what I'm finding is that there is also a large amount of free time. In between the time I spend dispensing copious amounts of justice, I find myself doing nothing more than surfing around, reading the day's news and clicking through political blogs. I mention the political blogs because I like people to think I'm 30 and feel self-important.

Doing so has made me realize one thing: There's a better way to write.

So for the remainder of the Summer you'll be seeing a bit of a different format. Instead of posting the occasional essay or column, expect 4 or 5 posts a day discussing things that just happen to come up. You'll get links to interesting reads, developing stories and things that just make me laugh. ME laugh. You will bend to my will.

This way, while dabbling in the legal process I can attempt to keep my writing sharp. Or at least as sharp as a few graphs of smart-ass remarks a day can keep it. This is what we call synergising.

Let the synergy begin.
