Believe the hype

Today marks one of the biggest events of the summer, the release of Snakes on a Plane. Whether or not you've heard of the movie that is, no doubt, about to take the nation hostage, you should start brushing up on your B- Action movie watching skills.

Starring Samuel L. Jackson and Julianna "I used to be on ER" Marguiles, Snakes is a probably the worst idea to ever strike gold with the internet nerd generation. After a trailer was leaked to the internet, partly as a joke to poke fun of its campiness, word spread like wildfire and every college student with a pulse was marking the date in his/her calendar.

Slated to open today, Cambridge's Premier Theatre held a midnight screening last night...at 10 pm. Yeah, nothing makes sense.

I was in attendence and have to tell you: Go see this movie. I will now attempt to regurgitate as many reason to do so as I can, right in front of you. Watch your shoes.

First of all, it's hilarious. It has all the great camp movie accents and doesn't take itself to seriously. Samuel L. Jackson is the fucking man. The acting is so bad you'll laugh...but not so much it's not enjoyable. You can tell they basically remade the movie to cater to the internet geeks that will, in mt opinion, push this movie in this weekend's box office top three. There's nudity. The movie starts with a 10 minute dirt bike sequence.

And finally....it's great for audience participation.

During one scene a flight attendant is trying to calm down a pair of young boys flying alone by telling them there's a celebrity on the plane. Here's how it went down...

Flight attendant: Do you know whose on this plane today?
Entire audience (without missing a beat): SNAAAAAAAKES!
Boys: No.
Flight attendant: Rap star, Three G!
Entire audience: Awwwwwwww....

So get out there, spend the 6 bucks, grab some of your most ignorant, retarded, hilarious, batshit-stupid friends and check out this flick. You won't regret it.
