Our long national nightmare is over...

The Spanish American War began and ended in 1898; however, in order to fund that war a tax was placed on the American people. That tax has just been repealed.

Originally intended to only tax the wealthy, who were the only people who owned telephones in a time before automobiles, microwaves or Tivo, the 3 percent tax was placed on long-distance telephone calls.

Personally, I'm a little weary of this whole situtation. One can never know when the pesky Spanish empire may, once again, rear its ugly head. What if we stop funding the war on Spaniards and then they start claiming to own Cuba again? What in San Juan Hill would we do then?

I'll tell you one thing, Teddy Roosevelt wouldn't be having any of this.
